I am looking to buy a digital SLR and can't decide between these two. Does anybody have experience of both and could they recommend one or the other?

Hi Dave.
I faced the same dilema a while back and decided on the Canon. They are fairly similar in terms of specifications, but the Nikon felt a lot bigger and heavier. I'm not sure if it's still the case, but at the time the Canon 350D was the lightest digital SLR camera on the market.
I've had no problems at all and have been very impressed with it.

Interesting, i've never used either camera, im still in the stone age with my film Pentax P30, though I do love it, the cost of proccessing is a bit of a mission, and then having to scan the negs! When I have earned enough from my photography, maybe i will consider getting a DSLR, for now, i'll have to stick with the old school,
